Brigadoon Park is a hidden gem in the heart of San Jose, California. One of the main attractions drawing visitors to this park is the cement slide feature.
The concrete slides are a unique and thrilling experience in San Jose, similar to slides in San Francisco and Berkeley, and are fun for kids and adults alike.
The park also has all the classic park amenities, walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds and grassy fields. There really is something for everyone.
Where is Brigadoon Park?

Brigadoon Park is located at the corner of Brigadoon Way & Maloney Drive in San Jose, CA, just across the street from the Silver Creek High School football field.
With plenty of parking on Camperdown Way and Daniel Maloney Dr, you won’t have an issue snagging a close spot.
If the concrete slides are your goal, park on Camperdown Way for the closest walk.
What Are the Cement Slides at Brigadoon Park?

The slides at Brigadoon Park are a set of steep, winding concrete slides that offer a fast ride for people of all ages.
There are 3 slides in total, each about 30 feet long, and they are built into a hillside. 1 slide is mostly straight, and the other 2 are windy. All 3 slides are smooth, and fast enough for adults to thoroughly enjoy.
How to Enjoy the Cement Slides Safely
While the cement slides at Brigadoon Park are a blast, it’s important to enjoy them safely.
You simply need a piece of cardboard to sit on, and down you go!
There are often sheets of cardboard lying around from past visitors, but to play it safe, bring your own. I always swing by a grocery store before heading to the park, as the back side of the grocery store usually has employees that will happily give you a box. They have plenty!
Regarding safety, make sure to dress appropriately. Sturdy pants and sleeves are recommended, as the slides can not only get hot in the sun, but you can get a friction burn if you fall off your cardboard.
I have witnessed some people in thinner pants, exposing more than they probably would have liked after taking a tumble.
I would highly suggest close-toed shoes as well. Flip-flops will certainly not protect your feet.
It’s also important to go down the slides feet-first, sitting up, and never head-first or on your stomach. Last thing you need is a back head or neck injury to ruin your day.
The obvious last word of caution – children should always be supervised by an adult, and everyone should slide down one person at a time.
What to Expect When Sliding Down the Concrete Slides

Sliding down the concrete slides at Brigadoon Park can certainly get your heart racing. They are steep, so you’ll could pick up speed quite quickly.
Try a few different pieces of cardboard – for reasons I don’t totally understand, some pieces are just simply faster than others.
You can slide down the concrete slides as many times as you like, but be prepared for a bit of a hike back up to the top of the hill each time.
